The Specialist Accommodation Forum
The organisation was established in March 2000 as the
Secure Accommodation Forum and was expanded in 2002 to reflect the interests
of all residential childcare provision in Scotland, Northern Ireland and
the Republic of Ireland, working with troublesome and troubled young people
in secure, semi-secure and open settings.
The Forum holds one conference a year on practice and policy issues of relevance
to the membership of the three countries.

Main
Tasks
Sharing:
ideas and practice amongst member organisations and other interested
bodies.
Training:
taking stock of what is currently available and initiating relevant
joint training opportunities.
Researching:
focussing on what works in specialist residential care and disseminating
information on new developments.
Developing:
cross national and international links.
Creating:
links including staff exchanges to break down the potential isolation
of working in specialist settings.
